It was the midweek, the sun was blazing down, and the waves were lapping at our feet. It couldn’t get better than this, except if someone were to suddenly thrust a bag in our hand that was stuffed with a gnarly tank top, board shorts and a pair of flip flops. And that’s exactly what Rip Curl did. To borrow a surf phrase, “Totally rad, dude!”

JUICE was dressed for the task and up for action. In this case the task involved the launch of Rip Curl’s first stand alone store in the country, and both big cheese Jon Lee of Azerus and HE Penny Williams of Australian High Commission were there to wield the mighty scissors and unleash the surf lifestyle on us landlocked city dwellers. And right on cue, came the call to action: surf’s up!

At the Surf Pool in Sunway Lagoon’s water park, Golden haired Aussie and Balinese gods of the water did more than just walk on it as they chased the waves and scored pipeline barrels between the downtime forced upon them by the wave machines. Pro surfers Owen Wright, Dean Brady and Garut carved up the big blue over an hour showing us all how to maximize our new gear and get with the surf lifestyle, before the Fabulous Cats performed. Sure, we retreated to the barbeque spread that was laid on at nearby Zazu, but it was one awesome event and it whetted our appetite for more outdoor action to come. See you by the seaside…. J
