A Malaysian woman, @trisyalee, recently shared a disappointing experience at a retail shop in Central i-City, Shah Alam via a now-viral TikTok clip.

In her two-minute video, she talked about how she and her mother faced judgmental treatment while shopping for closed shoes, as they needed them for a meeting. Trisya claimed that they received judgmental looks and no help from the retail staff.

Trisya expressed her frustration in the video, questioning the stereotype that only well-dressed people have money. Even when her mother tried to ask about the shoes, the staff didn’t respond.

She didn’t cause a scene but pointed out that the problem was with specific individuals, not the overall customer service of the retail store.

Trisya contacted the store’s management on the same day to share her dissatisfaction. The response suggested that she was the first person to complain about their service.

The TikTok clip went viral, leading the brand’s headquarters to reach out and apologise to her.

Interestingly, the comment section revealed that other people had similar bad experiences with customer service at the store. A handful of netizens shared their negative encounters, some noting that such incidents are unfortunately quite common in Malaysia.

Overall, the consensus is clear – stereotyping is never acceptable.
