There has never been a more iconic superhero ride than the Batmobile so it was only a matter of time before one got auctioned off for a chunk of cash.

A life-sized replica of the Batmobile seen in Tim Burton’s Batman (which came out in 1989) and Batman Returns (1992) will go on auction at Bonhams on 20 March.

According to AFP, the car is estimated to have a price tag of £20,000 to £30,000 (RM114,000 to RM117,000).

It is believed the model was built a few years ago by the British car firm, Z Cars, and is based on a 1965 Ford Mustang. The original sports car was given a spaceframe chassis and fibreglass body.

The Batmobile is powered by a Chevrolet 5.7-litre small-block V8 engine, producing a reported 380bhp. The interior is also represented faithfully from the source material, like Batman designed it himself. While there are buttons and controls present, there are no Bat gadgets installed.

Its length comes in at 6.7 metres long. While it may not be legal to drive that around here in Malaysia, the vehicle is road legal in Britain at least.

This replica of the Batmobile will go on sale as part of an auction featuring around 100 cars. If you have the moolah for it, you can bid for the Batmobile on Bonhams’ website.
