“Four” in Italian (pizza munchers should know), Quattro isn’t one club – it’s four. And as if trying to prove just how ambitious this one stop after-hours destination is, it spans all four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Located in Avenue K, you enter into Spring Lounge, a light bright locale from which you can listen to the band and watch Jalan Ampang traffic, or fish, in the Aquarium Bar. Further inside Summer Restaurant has a view of the Petronas Twin Towers and a menu that fuses East and West.

The heart of Quattro though is red hued, oriental flavoured Autumn Club. Linked to the Spring Lounge by the novel rain walkway, its layout isn’t intuitive – the DJ console acts like a control centre in the middle of the room with tables and cocoon-like seating randomly scattered around it – but it stakes its claim: to the nightlife scene with what is allegedly “the longest bar in KL”; and attentions with its silk bathrobe-clad waitresses.

The Winter Bar, which you reach directly by stairs or elevator gets our vote for its no-smoking policy and temperate clime. A recently popular gimmick for Malaysian bars, here staff is dressed like Russian spies in big thick coats (you can get one with a RM50 deposit). Colder still is its adjoining Belvedere-themed Ice lounge with ice sofas and seats, although we fail to see its point if you can’t even bring drinks in? Just a space for a chilly experience? Hmm….

Still, Quattro is ambitious both in its business aspirations and its design. A sharp looking club strategically located in the centre of the city servicing urban dwellers, shoppers and corporate suits, at the very least it could revive the overlooked Avenue K.
