RAW Art Space’s regular showcase of blisteringly loud and boisterous music is back! Power Up returns on the 3 July with an all new lineup for its second volume, but the same hair-raising volume that will have you headbanging all night. Boasting a range of both local and international acts, turn up to experience the best in punk, noise and metal, all for the low, low price of a RM20 donation.

More about the lineup:

Sudarshan Chandra Kumar & Yong Yandsen

Sudarshan Chandra Kumar is a veteran experimental music performer and composer, having performed at music festivals in Singapore and Malaysia. He also facilitates music programmes in children’s theatre workshops, and composed the score for his own musical, The Propitiation of Fundamentals, in 2015.

For Power Up vol. 2, he teams up with Yong Yandsen, a saxophonist who specialises in improvisation. Yandsen has also performed at various contemporary music festivals across Southeast Asia, as well as the Asian Meeting Festival in Japan and the Music Matters Festival in Sri Lanka.

MAMPOS

MAMPOS is a harsh noise musician based in Kuala Lumpur, who uses no-input pedals and feedback to create his own spiky blend of raw sound. Check out his single ‘Decay’ on Bandcamp here.

BOHR

BOHR’s sound is focused on achieving bottom-end harmonies with two guitars and a drum kit. His droning, doom rock anthems will undoubtedly have you moshing the night away. His first self-titled EP is available to listen to here.

Bossbattle

Otherwise known as Sean Stellfox, producer Bossbattle is an experimental musician creating DIY sounds with sound loops, feedback manipulation, and homemade synths and effects. He currently resides in Indonesia as part of the Jogja Noise Bombing Community, a group of noise musicians who play impromptu shows in the streets. Find him on SoundCloud and Bandcamp.
