PUMA x Ronnie Fieg Sakura Collection
As part of an ambitious venture by prolific sneaker designer Ronnie Fieg’s streetwear store KITH entitled The Sakura Project, comes the much heated Puma collaboration that’s already sold out on their website. It only takes a glance at these two pairs of striking R698 and RF698 Mid for any sneaker head to get the hype. The colourway of the collection draws from the cherry blossom, or sakura, that’s very ingrained in Japanese culture and therefore highly symbolic. For instance, clouds, nature’s transient beauty, and the long-standing tradition of hanami or ‘flower viewing’.
Deep magenta bleeds through to the delicate pinks of the R698 on its micro-perforated pigskin suede upper while the RF698 Mid continues with the sakura palette with a navy toe box that gives way to a red half, along with a speckled Trinomic midsole. A closer inspection of the collection’s images sees that each of the sneaks come with three sets of laces, 3M co-branded tongue labels, leather lining, quilted sneak bed, a sakura emblem on the heel, and rose gold anklets — all these details make the larger lure of the PUMA x Ronnie Fieg Sakura Collection all the more desirable.
