There was a time when Rihanna’s music was inescapable on the radio and online, but these days, the Barbadian pop star has been making waves in other ways. Her makeup line, Fenty, has since become a household name and a go-to brand for all ages.

With success comes collaboration with other brands, namely with sports brand Puma, where Rihanna and Fenty have lent their stylings to Puma’s sneakers. The highlight of it all was the Fenty x Puma Creeper, which is finally making its return.

This time, it’s bigger, bolder, and ‘phatter’ than ever, with this reimagining designed and named by Rihanna herself. The new Creeper Phatty takes the classic Creeper to the extreme with an oversized design, a stacked gum sole, and bold pops of colour.

This new twist on the Fenty x Puma Creeper will be available in three colours for all ages and genders. The Phatty stands for extra confidence, extra style, extra everything, with Rihanna’s vision being to bring the Creeper back but in a bold and culturally relevant way.

The original Creeper launched back in September of 2015, a platformed version of PUMA’s iconic Suede sneaker. This silhouette was named Shoe of the Year by Footwear News in 2016 and not only transformed sneaker culture, but sparked Puma’s brand impact and relevance over the past decade.

The Creeper Phatty is wrapped in suede, with a padded and debossed form strip, a debossed Fenty logo on the tongue, laces with gold aglets, and a stacked gum sole.

This drop offers three distinct colourways: The iconic black and white, an extra-bright blue and green, and lavender and cherry red.

“We took our OG Creeper and made it bigger and badder, ” said Rihanna. “When designing the Creeper Phatty we wanted to reinvent the OG Creeper that was loved by so many. It’s a classic silhouette that has been missed, so its return had to be bigger.”

As Creative Director, Rihanna’s second Fenty x Puma campaign was shot by Philippa Price,  who has previously shot worked with Rihanna and Puma.

The Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty will be available in Puma stores, on their official website and in selected retailers at Atmos, Solewhat, JD Sports and Footlocker, from 1 December 2023.
