Singaporean label Darker Than Wax (DTW) has been pushing leftfield electronic and forward-thinking club choons for some time now, gaining recognition not just within this region but internationally as well. BBC Radio’s Gilles Peterson and Jamz Supernova have cosigned the label, and tastemakers like European DJ Lefto and American legend King Britt have done the same too. While a few members had played in Kuala Lumpur before, this 6 May will mark the label’s first official showcase here thanks to DJ-culture collective Public School. On the bill is the man behind the label himself, DTW cofounder Funk Bast*rd, and returning to KL for the second time are fzpz and William J. Joining them are Public School’s own founders Renry Hollins and Ruud.
