To those in the know, they would recognise the name of artist Malaya Breed. His extensive work ranges from painting, to sculpture-making, to hand-painted jacket customisation. Just as what we’ve written in the October issue about the artist, he manages to tastefully combine hefty topics such as religion, punk rock, and politics into his work. The collaboration he had hinted to us with Subang-based label Nerd Unit have finally come to fruition in the form of the limited edition “AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” that’s carefully hand-painted on Nerd Unit’s oversized t-shirt. The message of the collaboration is meant to comment on how art is forgotten and its importance in fashion. The front of the tee has a cotton net for visual effect, while the back has the statement-making phrase painted with rubber dye.
