It seems like Reddi Rocket is on some kind of remix binge these days. After passing to us his bootlegged remix of the Biebs’ ‘What Do You Mean’, the Dubspot graduate has now given the remix material du jour of every DJ-producer out there, ‘Hotline Bling’, the RDIRKT treatment. And you know that could only mean one thing: Deconstructing the oddly misogynistic lamentation of a butthurt former lover of the original (a perennial subject matter for the Canadian swaglord), Reddi feminises the song by utilising the vocals of a cover version (Charlie Puth and Kehlani’s) plus lowered pitch shifts that give the song a different context, that of a wronged and concerned close friend rather than a scorned ex. The considerably chirpier and faster-paced production also make this one even more ideal for the dancefloor.
