Getting your first tattoo (or the sixth) can be a nervous experience, but in the right setting and with the best artist, it can be a beautiful process of making art and friends.

Luckily, the wild bunch at Licky Chan and The Poke Guy has just the right thing to calm your nerves. The shop is a hybrid of an ice cream and tattoo parlour located in Kuala Lumpur.

They offer a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic flavours that are dairy and vegan-friendly, each with its own unique, albeit a bit weird, flavours such as wasabi and sake. It’s also cool to know that they use fresh milk from grass-fed cows that they get straight from Pahang.

Apart from boozy ice cream, they also serve boozy cakes that sound as cool as they are delicious. I mean hey, who doesn’t want a piece of something that’s called Dato’s Dream?

Getting a tattoo feels a bit easier with the idea of walking into a shop, getting some ice cream and chatting with a tattoo artist about the whole process before a needle pinches your skin for two hours.

Here, you can work with friendly tattoo artists that have a wide array of specialities to either get a cool flash or customise your own design and hey, having an ice cream while you’re getting a tattoo is a sweet deal too.

They’re also doing their first flash event on the 4th (Saturday) and 5th (Sunday) of April and since they’re following the SOP, only clients are allowed in the shop, so you better book your slot now.
