2016 is less than 12 hours away, which means New Year’s Eve party listing will be scattered across everyone’s newsfeed. That’s why we’re here, yes, to compile a list of parties and places for your consideration. Enjoy the night — stay safe — and if you can afford it take a taxi to wherever you decide to go to because the jams are going to be as heavy as the price tags on the drink you’ll be buying later. See you again next year, if you survive tonight.

From getting wasted with friends to watching fireworks with family to listening to live music at pubs/gig spaces, check the events below and plan ahead:

Under9 Pres. Technologue’s ‘Just Like Clockwork’ NYE Party
JasonVoon

Welcome the New Year with Under9′s regular DJs — Notion A, Jason Voon, Westokan, and Khai, who will also be joined by Australian native Model T. As per every Technologue night, expect nothing but the finest and purest range of house and techno — no popular finds here, kids, these guys are aiming to drown out “mediocre noise.” A Clockwork Orange is the reference that’s being made here but let’s hope for partygoers’ sake that there isn’t a misunderstood man wearing a bowler hat looking to hit everyone in his way with a stick.

Time 10pm
Event Under9
Cover Free entry before 11pm, RM25 after 11pm.

Lust and Nagaba Pres. Wonderland

Nagaba and Lust will join forces to host the biggest NYE party in Changkat with 11 DJs and MCs sprawled across four rooms — each one offering a different environment and playlist. Like Zouk, only there’s a whole street for you to cross. Besides providing music, drinks, and potential candidates to kiss at midnight, the clubs are also offering RM300 shopping vouchers from Pestle & Mortar and Major Drop, as well as four buckets (20 bottles) of Tiger Beer White to two of the best dressed attendees (guy + girl). The dresscode for the night is ‘wonderful white’ and ‘sexy silver’, so try to minimise as much usage of black as possible. Bottle promotions and reservations are available, for more information, click here.

Live Fact’s Countdown Party
source: Reddi Rocket

The playlist for the night shouldn’t be anything but spectacular with DJs such as Salah Spin, Reddi Rocket, Yahna, Shoupihou, and AOM behind the consoles. The last one being the one to look forward to the most — we’re not just saying that because he’s our boss, but rather because his set’s gonna be one hell of a spectacular failure, like a train wreck you can’t turn away from. If not for that, consider this; Live Fact will be the place where the cool underground music kids will be spending the night, drinking cheap beer, homemade jello shots, and Korean rice wine, so don’t look any further if you’d like to be part of this.

This year, Publika decided to make its New Year’s Eve party just a little more over the top than last year’s. Some of happenings you can look forward to in the itinerary include live performances by Rimba and The Maha Jeffery Band, an Orang-Orang Drum theatre performance that will debut its NYE-special performance entitled ‘A Hybrid Song For Tomorrow’ as choreographed by Arif Waran (who was also in-charge of choreographing the 28th SEA Games‘ closing ceremony), and then of course, the night ends with fireworks, more music, and an-hour long jam to get out of Hartamas.

Live House’s Masquerade Party
source: Live House

Besides Changkat’s stretch, TREC is going to be every introvert’s nightmare and every clubber’s paradise. One of the venues in the area will be throwing a masquerade-themed party (how very A Cinderella Story of them). Music by DJ Kiyota and Shazan, plus a comedy performance by Andrew Netto for folks who fancy having a laugh before the fireworks and blurry vision kick in. Table and bottle reservations are available, for more information click here.

Ril’s Pres. Gregory Ramanado + Kaya The Band

Ril’s is hosting a ‘chill’ and more intimate party in comparison to the other venues we’ve listed thus far. Entertainers for the night will be Gregory Ramanado and soft-rock band, Kaya The Band. Check this out if being part of Telawi’s madness is something you’re too accustomed to and want something more relaxed within the same area.

NYE at Laundry
source: Laundry

Remember when The Curve’s NYE party aka foam party was all the rage? Good thing those times are long behind us. This year, Laundry’s invited two DJs with the most peculiar stage names we’ve heard in 2015 — Leslie Tricky Shitss and Funkzu — to be in charge of music. Plus, the live music joint has tweaked its menu to offer a heap of promos! More information here.

NYE at Merdekarya
Source: Merdekarya

This is where all the cool underground band kids and aspiring singer-songwriters will be holed up in. The lineup for the night includes The Maha Jeffery Band — fresh off Publika’s NYE, the hustle doesn’t stop even if its NYE! — and Skits. An open mic may be available so if you’d like to show off your inner Ariana Grande just in time for 2016, here’s the place to be.

Numerous DJs have been slotted to play for the night including Joey G, Terrence C and Play For Passion to name a few. Avenue K is also giving away a sweet gift — like Apple, sweet — so if you’d like to save a few thousands from your next purchase… you know where to look.

Minut Init’s NYE Party

After being asked numerous times whether they’d open for New Year’s Eve, Minut Init’s answer is a unanimous yes from everyone within the crew. So if you’re like us, rotting away in some Uptown office building on the last day of 2015 with nothing better to do, this is the most hassle-free choice. The art-cum-social gathering space is inviting their close friends, DJ duo Twuaks, Yohan, Wufland, and Iki.O, to play — if you’ve ever been to the venue since the opening of their social floor, you might recognise these faces. Expect soul funk and melodic tech to dominate the playlist.

The KL Journal’s New Year’s Eve Pool Party

source: The KL Journal

Boutique hotels are a quiet revolution — slowly popping up everywhere within and on the fringes of the city for those in need of a good staycation. The latest contender of this trend is The KL Journal, whose stream of events since their opening suggests that it also aims to be something of a contender for Bukit Bintang’s best party joint. This NYE will see them hosting another pool party — featuring Blastique and Lish — that is set to a picturesque view of the Bukit Bintang stretch. Why risk driving back home inebriated or go through the trouble of manouevring heavy traffic post-NYE celebration when you can just book a room here and recover?
