Twenty photographers were asked to photograph self-images of Malaysian personas that play a prominent role in our social, political, geographical, and technological state, but with a catch, only the photographers themselves had to portray said images. The backbone of this project is self-investigation of the personas; to see how the photographers’ interpret and visualise their subject matters as well as to expand their art to beyond printed photographs with installations and mixed media. Among the photographers who will be showcasing their works are Saubin Yap, J. Redza (the photograph above), JUICE‘s regular photo-essayist kG Krishnan, and Nadia J. Mahfix (whose surname sounds mighty familiar…). All artworks will also be on sale should there be any interested buyers.
