The Gombak district police has announced that they are investigating allegations that a policeman stationed at a roadblock on Batu 7, Jalan Gombak had solicited bribes from a Palestinian man, reports Bernama.

Earlier, a Twitter thread by ‘@Nuratikahrose’ went viral, alleging that the policeman in question threatened her Palestinian friend and his father for not having their passport on them.

Despite offering to get a relative to deliver the requested documents, the Twitter user said that the policeman threatened the two victims, before taking “about RM400”. The thread also includes a recording uploaded over three separate tweets, purportedly capturing the audio of the incident.

“Police recorded statements from several personnel on duty at the roadblock. Investigations are still underway to identify the policeman involved,” said Gombak district police chief ACP Zainal Mohamed.

The police are also looking for the owner of the Twitter account, as well as the Palestinian man who sent the recording, to assist in the investigation.

Members of the public are urged to contact the investigating officer Abdul Aziz Sulaiman at 03-61262222 or 016-7185750 should they have any relevant information.
