This way down the rabbit hole
Colour therapy is a great thing. It makes sure that your chakras are emotionally, physically and spiritually balanced; especially when all you want is to find your happy place. So when you’re tired of the barhop central that is Changkat Bukit Bintang, head downhill to Jalan Mesui, where the white gates of Palate Palette welcome you into their little house of delightful finds for your thirst, your time and your appetite, while their kaleidoscopic mismatch of colours have your senses cavorting like Lucy. In the Sky. With Diamonds.
The bar and restaurant, presently Kuala Lumpur’s renowned ‘offbeat’ pad, ranked high on Singha Beer and Lonely Planet’s Great Bars of the World and have, since they opened in 2007, helped to wheel forward several movements of local arts and music. Upstairs, screenings of independent short films are regular during Anything Goes Anything Shows; electro duo Lapsap began their story here; and Budculture have also made Palate Palette their tree house.
Bottomline, there’s always a party happening upstairs and it varies from a night of electro, hip hop to rock. Though nestled deep in the city, they go by neighbourly themes, with their Bring Your Pet Sundays. Also worth checking out is the weekly Wednesday Ink&Drink, celebrating body art and bohemian fun! Latest addition for all you comedy fans, Palate Pallete has just started hosting Late Night With AIIA. It’s a new monthly event that takes place every 3rd Thursday of the month.
