On The Desk: Homesoy Organic Soya Milk
So many strange things land on the desks of JUICE Towers that we are beginning to suspect we may subliminally be beaming mixed signals out to the masses. You know like when ET has to call home and someone else picks up. This time what’s turned up is what we call ‘Packaging Design Class 101’. 2 Tetrapaks of Homesoy’s Organic Soya Milk and a note book (recycled, no less) that arrived in a beautiful untreated bamboo wood box. Impressive!
A lot of people have this misconception that all brands of soya bean milk tastes the same. After having been a vegetarian for a year (for detox purposes) with soya milk as your main source of protein you come to realise that not all soya milks taste alike. So what makes this soya milk different?
Homesoy prides itself on being organic and while you may have heard that word a gazillion times, there’s a lot of us who don’t exactly know what it means. The term “organic” refers to products and other ingredients that are grown without the use of pesticides, prohibited fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMO) and radiation. If organic food is something still relatively new to your diet then that measn you have probably been scoffing produced bathed in chemicals all this while. It’s a scary thought.
Homesoy’s tag line is ‘simply pure, simply natural’. Their soya bean milk is a home-made recipe that uses 100% organic non-GMO soya beans and organic cane sugar, and there are no chemicals, pesticides and preservatives included. The only downside is that it does contains added sugar. But as we already have 2 cartons chillin’ in the fridge, we’ll give it a go.
Available in a convenient 1 litre ready-to-drink carton priced at RM4, it is easily available at all hypermarts, supermarket chains and convenient stores.
