Nike Cup Kuala Lumpur 2010


The infamous Swoosh has a new summer football campaign. The Nike Cup Kuala Lumpur 2010, Nike’s largest campaign yet, kicks off with more than 2000 5-a-side street soccer teams vying for prizes, including an all-expense paid football training trip to Brazil! An international campaign providing a large-scale platform for aspiring teenage ballkickers, we got exclusive access to its upcoming TV commercial, which will be hitting the telly and cinemas soon.

To celebrate Malaysia’s passion for football and the ferocious spirit of our young footballers, Nike Malaysia has decided to release a single called ‘We Run It’. Artists featured on the song are Joe Flizzow, Jin Hackman, AraByrd, MizzNina, Moots! and JD of Pop Shuvit, Azwin Andy and Rich of Estranged, Izal of One Buck Short and AIM 2010‘s Best Hip Hop Album winner DJ Fuzz.

A Nike All Stars collaboration, each Nike Malaysia influencer lends their signature style to the song, which began 6 months ago. But this isn’t Nike’s 1st music project; the brand has collaborated with Project EAR-consisting of Pop Shuvit (Malaysia), Slapshock (Philippines), Thaitanium (Thailand), St Loco (Indonesia), Ahli Fiqir (Singapore), MEM (Thailand) and Silksounds (Thailand)-while Estranged was one of the chosen bands for the Nike Human Race in Singapore last year.

The video to ‘We Run It’ pulls in Anugerah Industri Muzik award-winning director Nam Il Cho from Bangkok, who’s worked on Pop Shuvit’s ‘Oh Shizuka’ and Project EAR’s ‘Marabahaya’. Taking an approximate 20 hours to shoot, the video was filmed in an abandoned building along Jalan Imbi with the help of Yaniz Merican of YZ International.

The vid takes a peak into the lives of young kids in Malaysia who usually play football in any given surface or condition, showcasing the strong passion for the game that runs through the nation. These kids believe themselves as “warriors” when they take to the pitch, with every tackle, dribble and kick taking them a step closer to glory.

‘We Run It’ is definitely gonna be massive. The video will be aired on TV, in local cinemas and across Asia real soon!
