New YouTube Sensation

No, it is not Susan Boyle but the new bicycle sensation from Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye - Danny MacAskill! He even mentioned Malaysia in his bio about some of his most memorable moments; “getting flown to Kuala Lumpur on short notice to do an advert!” Aww.

Videos of this 23 year old amateur street trial rider are amazing. Danny rides for fun now, but with the crazy responses he gets for his videos, it only a matter of time till he gets swooped up by some bigtime sports label. This video was filmed by his flatmate Dave Sowerby around Edinburgh over a few months. It is  edited together to show off his new bike (customised for street trial riding) and what it can do.

At the beginning of the video, you’ll find Danny jumping onto a wall with his bike then HE rides along the spiky fence. Man, that’s just mad crazy! The trick took him only 4 days to get down. He said, “I wasn’t sure if it was actually possible when I started, and I fell off quite a few times trying it. It was a relief when I finally got it finished.” Then there’s also that trick where he rides up a tree trunk and does a back flip – known as a 100 per cent flare. Shocking! And desite the many falls, no injuries perfecting those technically difficult tricks according to him. Respect!

The street trial rider, who has been riding since he was 4 years old, goes around the UK and does demonstrations at schools and events. Danny goes on these tours with his company which he owns with a friend called The Clan.

Danny MacAskill, if you read this, do come to KL again and show us some tricks!
