Warning! Fun-filled day approaching. Get your moolah, sun block and festival gear on as we get closer to the annual Urbanscapes festival, KL’s first and only ‘user generated’ creative arts festival organized by KLue that brings all manners of creative heads together to KLPac from various creative corners like music, artists, actors, film and fashion.

Over the last few years Urbanscapes has always aimed at bringing people from different artistic scenes together and has successfully done so too! Brace yourselves for a day filled with live acts, visual and musical performances, installations, film screenings, theatre performances and even shopping! Can it get any better that that? And what’s this ‘user generated’ term that Urbanscapes is constantly mentioning?

Says the folks at Urbanscapes, “Similar to last year’s “user-generated” concept, Urbanscapes 2010 is focused on working with “users” such as the general public, partners, collectives and individuals to foster a true sense of community. The public is able to contribute by casting their votes for the musical acts that they would like to see included in the festival line-up and by actively participating in various festival activities that will take place throughout the event at such locations as The Marketplace, various exhibition areas and music performance stages, both indoors and outdoors.” So what the folks are trying to say is that each and everyone of you have a say in making Urbanscapes better and you know what? Thoughtfulness is always a good thing.

There will be eight main festival areas, four of which are live performance stages, namely:
The Lawn: High-energy live music in an outdoor stage setting, featuring Seven Collar T-Shirt, An Honest Mistake, Bittersweet, Couple, Khottal, Yuna and many more.
The Box: Non-stop live & acoustic music by Ariff Abu Bakar, Rosevelt, Altimet, Jin Hackman and plenty more talented singers, songwriters and rappers.
The Cinescapes Stage: Collaborative musical performances by MonoloQue x January Low, Tenderfist x Flica, Figure of Speech x John Thomas & Fly, and more.
The Sunset Disco: DJs Layan Sound System, Twinkies and We Are Mutants will spin as the sun goes down ’til late.

Other main areas include:
Exhibitions: Photography such as the 24 Hour KL Photography Exhibition and the Alliance Bank Port-A-Art Exhibition.
Live showcases: Improv theatre, interactive installations, street performers, musicians and performance art.
The Marketplace: Shop till you drop at the Marketplace, featuring an assortment of wares including clothes, knick-knacks, music, pre-loved items, food and more.
