New Steam Game Lets Players Go Full ‘Karen’ In A Mall Rage Simulator

Ever wanted to complain to the manager so hard it causes actual explosions?

An upcoming indie game called KAREN is turning one of the internet’s most infamous stereotypes into a chaotic playground of retail destruction. The third-person action game from Sauce Studios puts players in the role of a furious mall customer whose refund request has been denied and things spiral from there.

Instead of quietly accepting defeat, players are encouraged to unleash maximum entitlement.

Chaos At The Shopping Mall

Set inside a fictional shopping centre, KAREN plays like a slapstick sandbox where almost everything can be smashed, shoved, or weaponised. Knock over a display stand and mannequins might topple. Ram a shopping cart into a kiosk and glass could shatter. One small tantrum can quickly snowball into full-blown mall mayhem thanks to the game’s physics-driven chain reactions.

The goal isn’t stealth or subtlety. It’s escalation.

Players work through a series of increasingly ridiculous objectives during six chaotic in-game days, each ending with a boss battle against mall management or security. Expect showdowns with store managers, Segway-riding guards, and other retail authority figures standing between Karen and her perceived “rights.”

A Weaponised Customer Complaint

The game leans fully into the meme. Karen’s abilities read like a parody of customer service nightmares.

Moves include a “Mega Yelp” shockwave scream, spinning attacks powered by expired coupons, and other absurd power-ups designed to amplify the chaos. Players can also deploy items like scented candle grenades or charge through the mall with shopping carts to trigger chain reactions of destruction.

In short: the worse you behave, the stronger you become.

Satire With A Shopping Cart

Despite the over-the-top premise, KAREN is intended as satire rather than something serious or graphic. The game features cartoon-style violence and exaggerated behaviour meant to parody modern consumer culture and the internet’s obsession with the “Karen” archetype.

The developers describe it as a “rage simulator with a smirk,” inviting players to cause scenes, demand satisfaction, and embrace the chaos of being the worst customer imaginable.

If nothing else, it might finally answer a question nobody asked:

What if “Can I speak to the manager?” was a boss-fight mechanic?
