Montreal experimental band, Braids, has been noted for their glitchy, often eerie sensibilities, which aptly complements the band’s lyrical content where it often explores matters concerning pornography, slut-shaming, and exploitation. The band combines acoustic instrumentation and electronics seamlessly, which underscores Raphaelle Standell’s gentle, emotive vocal work. The trio’s latest album, Deep in the Iris, has been called their warmest and sunniest yet despite its hefty subject matters. They are quite the band, you should check them out even if you can’t make it for their gig.
