A year ago, when JUICE got word that Ministry Of Sound – Euphoria was opening here in KL, we were ecstatic. As far as club brands go, MOS has played a vital role in shaping clubbing culture worldwide. So it was a no brainer that we had to celebrate their big #1.
We got there pretty early and started on the free flow (the early bird catches the fullest glass). Soon throngs of party people arrived. As usual with Euphoria events, lasers and psychedelic lights were set to maximum effect and stilt dancers and other carnival-like performers raved up the party. There were even a few models with umbrellas that looked like Mary Poppins.
With the house music pumping, everyone was throwing vigorous shapes. However, it wasn’t until the main attraction of night UK’s Dave Seaman came on that the crowd finally realised their full partying potential. Showcasing his latest chapter from the chart-topping Renaissance: The Masters Series, the house music veteran took control of dancefloor and made MOS his.
A DJ, producer, label owner and former music editor for Mixmag, Dave has been credited with shaping modern club culture, lending his sounds to icons like Kylie Minogue, Garbage, Pulp, Placebo and Blur among thers. And that night, Dave pushed Euphoria’s sound system and the 1,000 plus crowd to their limits without breaking a bead of sweat in his Bathing Ape tee.
A couple of hours later, we stumbled out into the hotel next door, had a cup of warm coffee before heading out into the night . If all birthdays were like this, then growing old wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all. Happy birthday, Euphoria!
