The first single from forthcoming Visuals (out 28 April via Play It Again Sam), ‘Carry Me to Safety’ is just as the band’s EPK stated of the album, it’s Mew at their “most concise.” Though musically, it hasn’t changed much since the near 9-minute-long epic ‘Comforting Sounds’ became the emotional bedrock of your teenhood back in the noughties. This isn’t a complaint, the new single still makes for ‘comforting sounds’ to our ears as a 9-to-5er adult filled with ennui and unfulfilment – carry us to safety, please.
