Metronomy
The once upon a time 1-man band, Metronomy is now Oscar Cash, Gabriel Stebbing and Joseph Mount. Band founder Joseph chose the name Metronomy because it sounded cool and interesting and kept in time with the bands he was heavily into, namely Autechre and Funkstorung.
Known for out of this world remixes, fantastic dance live shows and an aversion to over-production, Metronomy’s debut Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe) was followed by Nights Out. Their live shows are recognised for their charming dance routines and light shows, and most notable is their use of push lights stuck to their chests. Weird.
Aside their affinity for illuminated torsos, Metronomy have also gained a rep for their remixes for some of JUICE‘s favourite bands like the Klaxons, Architecture in Helsinki, Roots Manuva, Gorillaz, Zero 7, Ladytron, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp, Lykke Li, CSS and more. Already one of Karl Lagerfeld’s fave bands, the German designer showed his Spring/Summer 2009 show in Paris last July to the Metronomy track ‘Holiday’.
