Having built her name as an acoustic singer-songwriter type for some time, Meliha Faisal – presently going by her mononym – is mostly seen doing DJ gigs now. That conscious effort to rebrand her identity in the scene has now come full circle with the debut of ‘Paradise’, her first new track in a long while. The electropop ditty is indebted to the genre that has marked her DJ career thus far, house, but yet also not careening completely off what made her a known name in the first place as an acoustic guitar riff soon loops alongside the four on the floor beat while she sings in a vocal style that’s quite unlike what she sounded like before. Tonally more accessible, if you will.
