It’s public knowledge now that the 14th General Election (GE14) Polling Day will fall on a Wednesday, May 9, as per the announcement made by the Election Commission (EC). They also confirmed that nominations for the 222 parliamentary and 587 state seats have been set for April 28.

GE14 will see a total of 259,391 election workers on duty, with 8,898 polling centres and 28,995 polling streams. EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said they have taken several factors into consideration when deciding on the dates, ensuring it doesn’t clash with any significant cultural or religious event. But did they really though?

Well, turns out the GE14 will be clashing with the sold-out Bruno Mars 24K Magic World Tour in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. All 12K tickets has been sold and now the future concert-goers are concerned if the date will still be the same.

Acordding to The Star, fans will have to wait to find out as the organisers are telling fans to wait for an official statement.

“Thank you for all your messages and calls in regards to the upcoming election and Bruno Mars concert.”

“Please stay tuned to PR Worldwide for an official announcement,” the Bruno Mars concert organiser PR Worldwide said on its Facebook page on Tuesday (April 10).

This is not the first time that an election clashed with a big event. A concert featuring Italian opera singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli fell on the same day of GE13 on 5 May ’13.
