Sexy man of r&b and soul, Maxwell is back after a very long hiatus.

Lead single ‘Prettywings’ is the perfect comeback, the album proves otherwise though. Saved by slower jams like ‘Stoptheworld’ and ‘Fistfuloftears’, the rest is short of impressive. Production-wise and lyrically, this is a good album, but the product just doesn’t cut it. Blacksummers’night is a respectable album, but it lacks that Maxwell essence. If this is his evolution, we’re not impressed.
