In Malaysia, it can be said that your typical new band’s recording career starts with an EP. And if that’s the case, then the young boys from Shah Alam that make up Matematik look like they have a semi-bright future ahead of them. Over thumping basslines, shuffling drumbeats and riffing guitars, lead singer Dancedancemugabe knocks on those hard to reach notes. ‘Bring Me The Light’ is a bilingual affair but the best songs are in Malay (‘Dansa Di Angkasa’ and ‘2-1′). Let’s just hope that in time to come they will keep The Killers’ influence out of the equation and multiple their originality. For now, it’s still a debut worth checking out.
