Sometimes you’re born a star but for truly respected celebrity status, you have to earn it. In seeking to recognise earned positions of recognition, Martell has herded up a collection of folks who are where they are now by their effort alone and seek to honour them as a Martell Rising Personality.

Martell’s A-list of 10 potential Personalities includes some of our favourite people, Blink and stylist Cris Yong and we took the chance to hang out with them amidst drinks and canapés. The launch of the campaign took place at the lavish KL Performing Arts Centre and there we learned a little bit more about how you can get in their list. Just so you know, Martell looks out for a proven track record and skills, innate talent, credible personality and burning passion to be recognised as a Martell Rising Personality.

Only 1 of the 10 will be chosen as Martell Rising Personality 2008 based on public voting and scores given out by a panel judges. Voting takes place by SMS or on Martell Rising Personalities website and where a vote for Adrian Yap, Bernard Chauly, Blink, Cris Yong, Jaclyn Victor, Joanne Yeoh, Jonathan Putra, Justin Chan, Sharon Lam or Vince Chong could send them to the top.

The chosen Personality walks home with the Grand Prize trophy, RM30000 in cash, a trip to Martell’s vineyard in France and 10 bottles of Martell VSOP while 3 lucky voters get a party worth RM10000 each thrown for them. So, cast your vote before Sunday 27 April and you could get the gratitude of a very rich celebrity and a lavish thrown for you. Who said that democracy doesn’t pay?
