Marmaduke Duke
What happens when Daft Punk enters the World of Warcraft? If their latest feel-good dance single ‘Rubber Love’ is anything to go by, Scottish concept rock duo Marmaduke Duke know all about having a good time while rocking the other-world. The side project of Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro and JP Reid of Sucioperro, these dukes of indie dance rock have been around since 2003, but due to commitments to their own bands, they only released their first album together in 2005.
The Magnificent Duke is the 1st in a trilogy of albums, to be followed by Duke Pandemonium and Death of The Duke. Going by the stage names The Atmosphere and The Dragon, their live sets include a cloaked and masked figure known only as The Duke, the band’s version of the Happy Mondays’ Bez or Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav.
