Malaysian Emerging Artist (MEA) Awards

Attention to all undiscovered artists, the annual Malaysian Emerging Artist (MEA) Awards is back and calling for applications! Co-organised by House of MATAHATI (HOM), Galeri Chandan, and Soka Gakkai Malaysia, MEA Award was started in 2009, and from a flood of submissions, five artists – Gan Chin Lee, Mohd Al-Khuzairie Ali, Mohd Bakir Baharom, Samsudin Wahab, and Shaifuddin Mamat a.k.a. Poodien emerged victorious. They not only received cash and voucher prizes, but also a 10-day travel grant to Jogjakarta, Indonesia and a solo exhibition at Galeri Chandan and Threesixty Art Development Studio. Opportunities like these don’t just drop everyday, so what are you waiting for? Details after the jump.

The five winners of this year’s MEA Awards will receive a cash prize, vouchers for art supplies, a 10-day travel grant to Manila, Philippines, and a solo exhibition in 2012, providing them crucial exposure in the contemporary Malaysian art scene.
