Malaysian five-piece Lokarya is stepping into a new era with the release of two brand-new singles, ‘Pelangi Selepas Hujan’ and ‘Lie’, offering listeners their first taste of the band’s highly anticipated debut studio album.

Set for release in September 2026, the seven-track album, also titled Pelangi Selepas Hujan, marks a significant milestone for the band following years of creative growth, collaboration, and sonic exploration.

The double-single release follows the success of ‘Deruan’, which became a milestone for Lokarya after the band performed at RIUH x ASEAN and RIUH Raya earlier this year. Their latest tracks continue to build on that momentum while introducing a more evolved, genre-bending take on their signature sound.

‘Pelangi Selepas Hujan’ is a poetic Malay-language track penned by acclaimed Malaysian musician Noh Salleh, exploring themes of faith and hope in moments of uncertainty.

The song also serves as one of the album’s key collaborations, with Noh Salleh contributing his songwriting to the record alongside Faii, who takes on production duties.

Meanwhile, ‘Lie’ offers a different glimpse into Lokarya’s creative history. Written by frontman Shaheth in 2014, the previously unreleased English-language track was recently rediscovered and completely rearranged, breathing new life into a song that had remained unheard for more than a decade.

Together, the two singles reflect the breadth of Lokarya’s musical identity, combining nostalgic Japanese-inspired melodies with contemporary production, soulful arrangements, and heartfelt lyricism.

Known for their lush live arrangements, captivating performances, and elegant stage aesthetic, Lokarya has carved out a distinct place within Malaysia’s evolving pop landscape.

The band draws heavily from the sounds of 1980s Japanese City Pop while incorporating modern soul and contemporary influences, creating music that feels nostalgic without being rooted in the past.

The band’s return comes after a two-year creative hiatus, during which Lokarya continued developing the sound and direction that would eventually shape their debut album. Now, with their first full-length record on the horizon, the group is ready to step back into the spotlight and reconnect with audiences across Malaysia and beyond.

With ‘Pelangi Selepas Hujan’ and ‘Lie’ now available on all major digital streaming platforms, Lokarya’s debut album is shaping up to be the next chapter in a story built on nostalgia, reinvention, and a distinctly Malaysian take on City Pop.
