Brooklyn-based Tei Shi has that high sailing voice that makes her eclectic r’n’b tunes quite chilling, but she’s elevating her quiet sultriness with the bass-thickened synth pop track ‘Bassically‘, which is the first track off her forthcoming Verde EP. The official remix version comes courtesy of the much buzzed about HONNE , who interestingly, lead a double life of being teachers by day and soulful synth musicians by night. The London duo removes the ’80s revival influence and replaces it with a mellow, languid substitution. The immediate shudders of bass are gone but when the percussive clasps with the wails, it alters the mood and groove of the track completely.
It’s a disservice to yourself if you don’t take a listen to both versions. But here’s the remix:
