We first heard about HONNE via a fantastic pared down remix they did for Tei Shi’s ‘Bassically‘ and here they are again, about to release their EP entitled Coastal Love next month. As one of the tracks from said EP, the London duo has covered the ’70s soul ballad ‘Didn’t I‘ originally sung by cult San Franciscan artiste Darondo. Though the vocals on HONNE’s interpretation isn’t as emotive as Darondo’s, it’s not to say that the baritone isn’t as affecting. The track travels in and out of the blaring synths and some quiet instances where you can truly enjoy the union of the highs and lows of the duo’s singing.
