We were just tuning in to James Blake’s amazing live performance at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival yesterday – smooth vocals, transient electronics, and intricate beats tossing and turning all over the place. This remixed track (purportedly from when he first started getting into production way back when) is so unlike his chart friendly tunes like ‘Retrograde‘ and ‘The Wilhelm Scream‘ but, it does seem to shed a little light on the inner workings of his musical calibration – the groove dynamics and melodic samples slither around freely, just like his live shows. Sure, the production quality may not be up to par with his latest releases, but the backbone to his current sound was still apparent then.
Get down on it.
More James Blake here.
