Manchester band Everything Everything has been lauded for their muddling assemblage of pop that borrows from a multitude of genres, just as their band name alludes. Their latest single ‘Regret’ from forthcoming album Get To Heaven has been given a face lift by fellow Mancunian — electronic producer Oceaán. And just like the purpose of a surgery, the producer has transformed the track into — we think — a much improved, albeit unrecognisable, version of its preceding form. Oceaán deconstructs the track and does away with the most prominent bit of the track — that “regret, regret” hook — which further strips the track away from its indie pop identity. The remix is kept quite bare; there’s the minimal metallic clanging in the distance, the steely percussion, and the myriad of ways in which he’s spliced and pitch shifted the vocals.
