LISTEN: Eric Bentley’s ‘Nothing To It’
So this track is probably a lot older than most of us — it’s from the 1968 release Bentley on Biermann — but it’s just been rereleased by Smithsonian Folkways (yes, the museum has its own record label) and we can’t help but find beauty in the simplicity of both the tracking and the poetic lyricism of the tune. It’s about life, as all good songs are, and is something that we find that we can inherently relate to. Some things just don’t change in life – and this song is exemplary of that.
Oh, and Eric Bentley is 98 now. And still kicking.
