Lipstick Gossip #2 @ Twentyone

Over 100 women were treated to an evening of girly pleasures at Twentyone last July 30. The monthly Lipstick Gossip is the 2nd installment of what is also a part of a newly established concept at the popular spot along Changkat Bukit Bintang.

Lipstick Gossip is an element of Twentyone’s new Thursday night concept, Pink drinks, a regular series featuring cocktail mayhem and 3 different themed events combining fashion, music, women and yummylicious drinks, all under one roof.

The 1st event held in June was a trial run amongst close friends and clients to test the waters and iron out whatever minor hiccups and operation kinks executing such an event might occur. What was a simple and genuine notion to create a night committed to pampering women, quickly became a rather luxurious by-invite-only affair for the independent women in Twentyone’s database.

Personal invites to Lipstick Gossip are rotated every month between a list of over 1000 women, ensuring everyone gets an equal chance at this exclusive experience. Upon receiving an invite, invitees are required to send in their names along with those of 3 friends. The guest list closes after 120 RSVPs have been received.

JUICE received its much coveted invite to last month’s gathering, only the 2nd Lipstick Gossip. Told it was a strictly no men policy, we were taken aback to see quite a few milling around upstairs. But apparently these came with the indulgent services that were offered: manicures, temporary tattoos, reflexology and massage, hairstyling, on the spot makeovers as well as tarot and palm reading.

While waiting our turn to find out what the future held (parties, work, love triangles – what’s new?) multiple NY style cocktails were imbibed: the Soho Belini, the Xrated Cosmo, Madison Avenue and Red Lip Sip – all whipped up by Twentyone’s award winning mixologist, Dean Reardon and all savoured by us. Canapés were also prepared by Twentyone’s gastronomic specialists – we pounced on those too.

And when I say “we” I mean JUICE‘s gal pals from the JUICE office. The 2nd Lipstick Gossip not only paid tribute to the Cosmopolitan cocktail’s 25th anniversary, it also ran with a Sex And The City theme, which is why we brought our own Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha – namely Miranda, Lye Cwan, Li Mei and Sueann.

At the end of the night (doors open to all, men included, from 10pm onwards) after the magician had tricked us twice with his slight of hand and trixie rope and card sorcery, us girlies, now fed and watered, received a generous send off in the shape of goodie bags stocked with hand lotions, make over vouchers and dining vouchers courtesy of Crabtree & Evelyn, Make Up Store and a RM50 voucher to dine at Twentyone. All too sweet.

A Ladies’ Night that lacks that charge of sexual electricity that goes with knowing there are men on the prowl was definitely different; one where you are actually treated like a lady a greater novelty still. Word is invites are already being sent JUICE‘s way for the next one. So chicas , make yourselves known to Twentyone and wait for the envelope to arrive.
