Last Saturday, Grammy-award winning Lauryn Hill of The Fugees made a public appearance at New Zealand’s Raggamuffin Music Festival. The 2010 show for the biggest reggae music in New Zealand also featured Shaggy, Sly & Robbie, Julian Marley and so many more. Miss Hill was definitely the biggest attraction and the question everyone had in their head was “Is she gonna f*ck this up again?”

Lauryn wore a leather jacket over a dress and had a yellow sun bonnet on for the show in Rotorua. She opened the show with her first breakout single ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ from her brilliant The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album. She looked happy and upbeat to be on stage at Raggamuffin stage. Could this be a good sign for all Lauryn Hill fans?

The one-third member of hip hop group The Fugees had showed up 2 hours late with clown-like make-up in a show in Brooklyn back in 2007. Everyone thought that was the end of Lauryn’s career. This New Zealand gig proved us wrong. At least she didn’t reconstruct her music like she did in ’07 till the point that we could barely recognise the songs.

This 34-year old artist even enthused from stage, “How y’all doing? Let’s do it. Give ’em what they want. If you feel good, lick three shots in the air, let’s go!” Oh Lauryn Hill, we miss you! Please give us some more of that good good music.
