Hopefully done for the lulz and not because The Iron Giant wanted to kickstart a singing career, Kygo helped Groot with a cover of the former’s own single ‘It Ain’t Me’, whose vocals were originally only by Selena Gomez. Vin Diesel’s humble personality really shines through the low, raspy registers of his voice. He complimented both artistes on Twitter, thanking Kygo for “making magic” and described Selena’s voice as “beautiful and welcoming,” possibly oblivious to the humour of it all.
The video posted on Vin Diesel’s Facebook page has picked up some 2.5 million views since it was shared on Saturday 18 February. Though it’s not much to our surprise that the video continues to receive heaps of positive feedback from fans – ironic praise or otherwise.
Watch the Diesel-Kygo collaboration below:
In case you haven’t heard, this isn’t Vin Diesel’s first time singing, he’s also done covers of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ and Maroon 5’s ‘My Heart is Open’ in previous years. He’s even performed the bit of the chorus from hit tribute song to his late co-star Paul Walker, ‘See You Again’. Recently, Vin Diesel and Kygo also did a laidback cover of Tove Lo’s ‘Habits (Stay High)’ and the two of them seem to share a rather endearing friendship.
As shown in the video below, Kygo and Vin Diesel praise each other nearing the end of their casual cover of said song.
