It’s been almost three years since their proper full-length album BOOK OF FLAGS, now art-punk band KILLEUR CALCULATEUR is breaking their lengthy silence with their first single in Bahasa – ‘Tayang Sulit’. First heard during their 2015 Indonesian tour, the statement-making track is the band at their most urgent, sounding as revitalised as they’re at their most accessible with its nigh math-y arrangement and a melodic coda to remember. But the main attraction of the track is indubitably its lyrics – writing and singing in Malay seem to come natural with the band, they’ve never sounded as subversive in English.
