Kelis: Flesh Tone (A&M Records)
Kelis hasn’t had it easy with her brand of so-called “weird rnb” since debuting with Kaleidoscope in 1999. She might not be your regular Destiny’s Child, but she’s still got the “milkshake” to bring the boys back to the yard. This time, Kelis goes shopping for dance music, bringing in big producers like Boyz Noize, Benny Benassi, Diplo, will.i.am and David Guetta to make this the perfect summer album. Structured like a DJ mix, Flesh Tone doesn’t drown Kelis’ voice on big Neptunes beats unlike on her 1st effort. Definitely a brave change for Nas’ ex-wife and one hot piece of cake.
