Kanye Returns
Kanye West sneers “They said I was the abomination of Obama’s nation / Well, that’s a pretty bad way to start the conversation” on ‘Power’, rumoured to be the 1st single off his upcoming album Good A$$ Job. Guess the TV and radio will be censoring the album title a lot …. We can’t wait to see what he has in store after the much-talked about 808s and Heartbreak.
This controversial artist has been keeping it on the down low ever since the MTV Video Music Awards 2009 incident with Taylor Swift in which he responded on ‘Power’ after Taylor mocked it on Saturday Night Live. He spits, “F*ck SNL and the whole cast / Tell ’em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole a$$.” Oh Kanye….
If the rumour is true about this single as the first drop from his new album, then Kanye is definitely coming back with a bang. The Dwele-assisted single is a big hip hop anthem, sampling King Crimson’s prog-rock classic ’21st Century Schizoid Man’.
Don’t expect the melancholy of 2008’s 808s and Heartbreak, as he steers over to straight-up rap - rumours have it he is working with boom-bap legends like Pete Rock and RZA for the release. He will be returning to the sped-up samples and militaristic beats that made his earlier albums go platinum. Nice!
No mention of the song release on Kanye’s blog, but the Kanye Live fan site reports that it will hit iTunes on 8 June, which is also Kanye’s birthday. The new album Good A$$ Job is expected to come out this fall. Can’t wait to see what tricks Kanye have for the music industry this time, but we’re sure it’s going to be an entertaining one.
