DJ Dim Sum will be spinning at the upcoming Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge, and we managed to have a quick chat with the Hong Kong star! Foodies, take notes because DJ Dim Sum’s got some advice for ya’ll…
How did you come up with your DJ stage name? Do you have a love affair with dim sum?
My friends used to call me that, so I used DJ Dim Sum and stuck with it. And yes, I love eating dim sum!
How has the hip hop scene evolved since you started DJing?
Hip hop was really popular ten years ago actually. I was only a hip hop DJ at the time, now its evolved into more club/dance friendly tracks. Now people are more open to dance music in particular. Before this, I would have never imagined that I would be playing so much of house music in my sets.
From your perspective, what is the party scene in Hong Kong like?
Partying in HK is very intense, just like the city itself. When people party out here, they go really hard, its just like any other international city. People bust their butts during the week and need to relax and have a good time when the weekend comes, so I’m right in there with the crowd feeding off their energy and having a fun at the same time.
If you were president of the world for one day, what would you do?
I want to throw insane parties and share my music to as many people as I can.
Who is your dream person to collaborate with?
Anyone who is talented and loves music.
Tell us what’s the best dim sum ever and where.
Hong Kong for sure. It’s usually the really old school looking places with a lot of old folks inside. They have been going there for decades so they can’t be wrong.
What can we expect from you at Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge?
I’m bringing the Hong Kong party vibe with me, a lot of energy. So get ready to rock with me at the Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge!
