JUICE pres. Hanger Launch @ Neo
There were whispers aplenty around town and on Twitter the past month with questions like “What’s Hanger?” or “Is Hanger a new fashion magazine?”. After much hints coming from the JUICE team we were finally excited to unveil our fashionably dirty secret – our very own fashion bi-annual mag. In JUICE fashion (pun intended) we just had to throw a party and celebrate the launch of our (blood, sweat and tears) AW09 issue in Neo at Tamarind Hill.
Neo is still new to a lot of people so it seemed like a great place to throw a party that people wouldn’t be sure what to expect of. What we did expect though was that it could get pretty humid so we were told to keep our clothes to the minimum – unless you were going for the grease ball look. Of course, then again we were expecting the fashion cream-of-the-crop to still come decked in nothing less than spectacular. The weather clearly wouldn’t be an issue for them.
You know a party is off to a good start when invitees come on time. People started trickling in before 8pm even with the slight drizzle outside. Before you know it Neo was packed to the brim with all sorts of people sipping on their Heinekens and their Hennessys, listening to MizzNina’s dope hip hop sound on the decks while waiting for the fashion show to begin. Everyone must have also been very hungry, canapes plates were emptied out in a flash. The hostess of the night was the lovely Camelia who announced the fab Adidas x Jeremy Scott fashion show that was styled by famed stylist Calvin Cheong.
After the fashion show superstylin’ Arabyrd pumped up the crowd with a wicked DJ set and even gave a surprise performance and dropped her track ‘Byrdkick (Stereotyp Remix)’. Seen mingling at the launch were Joe Flizzow, DJ Cza, Henry Golding, Jiman Casablanca, Joanne De Rozario, Ming Wong, Cris Yong, Magie Abang Saufi, Blink, Jacinta Cheng, Xu, DJ Bunga, DJ ChaseyLain, James Baum, DJ Goldfish, Kraft, Adam C, Edwin Choong from Sole What?, Adam Mathew from Zouk, Khir Khalid, and so many more! The night ended with Neo’s resident DJ Bernie to continue to pump things up, while everyone continue to have endless Hennessy on the rocks over laughs and catching up. It a good night indeed.
Hanger AW09 was launched at Neo on Friday, 27 November 2009. Hanger retails at RM10 at all good bookstands and stores in Malaysia. Smile, you’re on Gallery!
