When it comes to events, Malaysians showed up this year—literally. From stadium-shaking concerts to culture-defining festivals and product launches that became pop culture moments, 2025 was loud, colourful, sweaty, emotional, and unforgettable.
These are the events that got people talking, queueing, crying, moshing, refreshing their feeds, and telling everyone, “You should’ve been there!”
Let’s break down the nominees across three stacked categories…
BEST CONCERT
1. Yussef Dayes

A rhythmic masterclass that felt half-concert, half-spiritual awakening. Yussef Dayes turned Kuala Lumpur into a jazz-fusion fever dream with a performance that pulsed through the crowd like electricity. It wasn’t just music, it was a flex in musicianship that left everyone floating three inches above the ground.
2. Henry Moodie

The British heartthrob delivered a night of emotional wreckage (the good kind). With a voice built for crying-in-the-shower playlists and a crowd that knew every lyric, Henry Moodie proved he’s more than viral—he’s visceral. Tender, raw, and surprisingly powerful.
3. BABYMETAL

Metal + kawaii + precision choreography = chaos in the best possible way. BABYMETAL’s show was pure adrenaline: lasers, riffs, mosh pits and a crowd that didn’t stop screaming. A spectacle, a workout, and a cultural crossover moment all in one.
4. CAS

Cigarettes After Sex hit that sweet spot between rap bravado and stadium-worthy production. The energy was fully infectious making it the kind of concert where everyone left hoarse, sweaty, and with a few tears in their eyes.
5. Green Day

Green Day proved that punk never dies—it just ages like an extremely chaotic leather strap. A setlist packed with anthems, nostalgia, and 2000s rebellion made this stop a bucket-list moment. Billy Joe + a Malaysian crowd? Electric.
6. 2NE1

When a legendary girl group reunites, you show up. 2NE1’s performance was an emotional bomb-drop of nostalgia, charisma, and powerhouse vocals. CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy reminded everyone why they dominated an entire era.
BEST FESTIVAL
1. TAPAUfest

Malaysia’s favourite youth-centric festival brought together music, fashion, and good vibes—and solidified itself as a cultural GPS pin for the indie scene. For bands and their fans, this was the place to be, full stop.
2. Hausboom

High-energy, high-impact and highly Malaysian. Hausboom delivered yet another explosion of local talent, loud crowds, and that signature “homegrown festival” identity.
3. Sunset By Neon

A dreamy mountain escape for the glowstick girlies and boys. Sunset By Neon blended golden-hour energy with thumping EDM that lasted through the night, turning every photo into a screensaver-worthy moment. Our Editor went for this and he’s still recovering.
4. Wonderfruit

The arts-meets-wellness-meets-nature phenomenon continues to be the region’s boho-lux crown jewel. Over five days of music, design, community and sunrise-to-sunset adventures, Wonderfruit offers a sensory reset like no other. This year’s Wonderfruit 2025 has yet to take place (it’s going down in December), but we’re keeping it on the list anyway because it’s sure to be a blast.
5. Hardtech & Transmission

Bass, lasers, BPMs that make your bones shake—Hardtech & Transmission delivered a rave experience on a massive scale. Trance heads and techno kids are still raving about it.
6. Heineken Refresh

The city’s favourite green-themed playground returned with style. A sleek mix of DJs, immersive installations and smooth brand DNA made this one of the coolest branded festivals on the calendar.
BEST PRODUCT LAUNCH
1. McDonald’s XXL Fries

A launch so viral it became a street phenomenon. The XXL fries drop in Bukit Bintang created queues, chaos, memes and full-blown potato fever. The streets have never been saltier—or happier.
2. UNIQLO #CelebratingTShirtDay

A masterclass in clean branding made loud, UNIQLO turned the everyday tee into a fashion moment with a massive billboard campaign that had everyone asking: “Is this the one everyone’s posting about?” By showing how one T-shirt can shift from clean minimalism to bold street style, the campaign reminded everyone why the T-shirt is the ultimate wardrobe essential.
3. ZUS Coffee’s Blue Buddy

The plushie that broke the internet (again). ZUS turned emotional storytelling into a full-scale marketing juggernaut, with Malaysians lining up for a soft blue companion they absolutely had to take home. A product launch with feelings? Genius.
