JUICE 8th Birthday Party: Space Invaders @ Ministry of Sound, Euphoria

On Friday 16 July, over 1500 party people danced the night away at Malaysia’s leading street culture magazine, JUICE‘s 8th birthday party. Guests to Ministry of Sound – EUPHORIA arrived to deliciously wicked Absolut and Chivas cocktails carrying galactic names like the Chivas Rocketship, Chivas Man On The Moon, Absolut Laser Cannon and Absolute Alien Invasion. With Space Invaders as the party’s theme and “Space Age + Neon Futurism” as the dress code, the club was a riot of colours.

Multitalented DJ, radio host, music producer and former VJ Joey G was emcee for the night and welcomed some smashin’ house music by JUICE DJ Quest 2009 winner Kubika. This year’s JUICE birthday party featured a fashion show from Mooks and Rip Curl before the big sound of dubstep rocked the main room. At this point, the monster-sized club saw the crowd pumping their fists up in the air to the big basslines with JUICE‘s Best Club Night 2009 pick Bud Culture on the decks. Up-and-coming electronic band Tenderfist, and the eclectic and much-loved female act AraByrd took centre stage right after to execute a killer live collaboration as they wowed everyone with their unexpected mix of electronic and disco.

Then, the hottest dynamic duo in Malaysia at present took the spotlight. HypeEmBeats + Jee Hoe proved to be a big hit with the crowd, getting everyone on their feet with their brand of disco and electro emitting through Ministry of Sound – EUPHORIA’s amazing sound system. After their one-hour set, resident DJ Patrick Oliver from Miami took over and continued to rock the night ’til the wee hours.

With every JUICE birthday party comes plenty of presents-for our readers! A number of exclusive “JUICE 8th Anniversary” tees were handed out before the best dressed walk-off competition, where the winner earned a 3D/2N stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang worth RM2500! The crowd went bananas when the contestants showed off their best moves and poses onstage to win the grand prize.
