Ink, Not Mink

Chester Bennington just got a little more appealing today. He came onto the music scene in the beginning of the noughties with band Linkin Park (a minus 1 gold star in my books) and although it was rap rock/nu metal/alternative metal – whatever, Chester really showed he had mad powerful screaming skills. Although (in my opinion) he was in the wrong genre, he deservedly earns 1 gold star for them screams. The past few years though, Chester seems to be looking more and more attractive (+1 gold star) what with tattoos on his body (+1 gold star), his very short but funny cameo appearance on Crank 2 (+1 gold star) and finally now his latest participation in an anti fur ad (+1 gold star). Yes ladies, Chester is stripping down for PETA for their latest ad ‘Ink, Not Mink’. Sexay.

The Linkin Park and Dead by Sunrise frontman’s ‘Ink, Not Mink’ ad campaign shows off his tatts and a proud tag line ‘Be comfortable in your own skin, and let animals keep theirs’. Chester sat down with PETA and said “What’s really important for people to understand is the cruelty behind the fur industry.”

He went on to say that “Electrocuting animals, skinning them while they’re alive — these are acts of inhumanity.” A big believer in animal rights, 1 of Chester’s main concerns include dog and cat overpopulation. His wife worked in an animal shelter before and she manage to see the tragedy of animal overpopulation firsthand. With a shelter housing large numbers of animals (about 4 million dogs and cats)  and these poor animals are euthanized every year because there aren’t enough suitable homes for all of them. Thats why he often encourages potential dog and cat owners to adopt from a shelter instead of buying from a breeder or pet store.

There are little things we can also do to help animals. Luckily because of our weather we don’t really wear fur but we do have the problem of overcrowding in shelters. If you’re looking for a dog or cat, head on down to our local SPCA to adopt. I’m glad I did.
