Located at the foot of Bukit Nanas, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Muzium Telekom has become more than just a showcasing of the history of telecommunications. Its latest exhibition is one that is sure to delight art enthusiasts across Southeast Asia.  The latest IMMERSIO exhibition collaborates with more than 20 new media artists and cultural maestros. Expect an immersive labyrinth of digital artworks, interactive installations, tradition-rich theatrical art, and heritage music with a modern twist.

Curated by Filamen, Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (Yayasan TM), and Digital Technology Incubation Programme, this is the fifth edition of IMMERSIO.

Embracing the theme Waris (Inherited), the latest iteration of IMMERSIO delves into the captivating tapestry of Southeast Asian heritage. The exhibit offers a contemporary perspective on the essence of cultural identities, enduring traditions, shared values, and personal stories. 

Ignited by the vivid hues of technology and artistic expressions, these inherited narratives will take audiences on a multi-sensory expedition that blends the old and new, allowing them to navigate the continuum between the past, present and the unfolding future.

Within the engaging canvas of IMMERSIO 2023, lies a diverse ensemble of well-established and emerging artists as well as imaginative minds from the Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU). The roster of artists and installations includes: 

  • Chong Yan Chuah, a multi-disciplinary artist rooted in architectural origins.
  • Izealist and Unreality Kai unveils an illuminating doughnut-shaped installation that changes with audience interaction. 
  • Vasflow and Cerikapak with their light art made with e-waste. 
  • Kacau Bilau with their Anklung and guitar soundscape. 
  • Wayang Kulit Animatronik, featuring 3D printed figures by Ahnaf Hakimi.

IMMERSIO 2023 is open to the public from 15 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.

Admission fee is RM15 and RM5 for children under 12. Entrance is free for the PWD community. Get your tickets through the official website.
