Take An ‘Honest Hour’ For Yourself At This Elegantly Chic Nail Haven In KL

Step into the unassuming location of an upstairs shop-lot in TTDI, and there you’ll find it – the Honest Hour parlour, easily recognisable by its subtle banner, proudly displaying a classic stylised ‘H’ against a neutral backdrop. This logo perfectly encapsulates the essence of the shop’s interior and overall vibe – sophisticated, timeless, and inviting.

Nestled away from the bustling streets, this nail parlour offers a unique spin on self-care like no other.

In line with our Inclusive Beauty campaign, our ambassadors – which comprise of 7 women and 3 men, were treated to a mani-pedi sesh each; Walking in with great anticipation, and leaving with the ultimate relaxation experience. Oh, and gorgeous hands and feet, of course.

Upon entering, you are warmly welcomed by a team of sweet and talented women, led by the founder herself, Eka. As you settle into one of the cozy sofas, bask in the soothing ambiance created by the calming warm lighting and an interior that feels like your own home… Only better.

As you glance around, you’ll also notice that the attention to detail at Honest Hour is unmatched. Redefining the traditional salon experience, the first thing that catches your eye is the gorgeous, one-of-a-kind furniture that adorns the space.

Each piece is carefully selected, contributing to an eclectic and visually stunning aesthetic. Whether it’s a plush armchair, a vintage sofa, a chic ottoman, or even the immaculately carpeted floor, you have the freedom to choose where you want to sit and make yourself at home.

The selection of nail polishes is carefully curated, offering a wide range of trendy colours and high-quality brands. Whether you opt for a classic shade or something bold and adventurous, the skilled technicians ensure flawless application and meticulous attention to your preferences.

Say goodbye to harsh lighting and limited seating that makes you want to rush through the experience and hello to comfort, topped with an array of rare-looking lamps, framed art and mirrors strategically placed to create the perfect setting for capturing your OOTDs.

And let’s not forget about the unmatched aroma that permeates the air. As you take in the surroundings, you’ll be greeted by a captivating scent that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere all at once. Is it the mist sprouting out of the incense sticks?  The hibiscus scrub being lovingly applied to your skin? The irresistible hand creams sold on the side? You just can’t pinpoint what it is because everything smells so damn good.

OK, I’ll stop talking aesthetics now and move on to service!

To me, Eka’s professionalism and passion for her craft are truly admirable, but it’s her choice of tea served at Honest Hour that takes the experience to a whole new level. Think I’m exaggerating?

Picture a cup of steaming hot ginger, clove and lemongrass tea, in a vivid purplish red hue, being handed to you as you’re seated in this peaceful oasis. You take a careful sip, and as it oozes into your mouth, your tongue is greeted by this delightful mix of earthiness which Malaysians would famously describe as “Perfect, not too sweet”.

Alas, there is one downside to Honest Hour. I mean, does a flawless pamper sesh really exist?

This parlour’s flaw lies in their stunning variety of polishes that come in a range of neutrals, pastels and elegant bolds that will leave you spoiled for choice. I propose a rebranding of the name ‘Honest Hour’ cause honestly, I could spend at least three hours just ogling at the shades and another trying to pick one out for myself.

Our ambassador and psoriasis activist, Rocyie, came in with a vision: Nails that will get people talking at her event the next day, where she planned to don a cream-coloured dress. She couldn’t pick between an understated elegance with an almost dusty blue shade and a hint of glittery fun, so naturally, she walked out with both.

These polishes aren’t just a pretty face, either. They’re cruelty-free, breathable, non-toxic and totally unique – Curated and named by Eka herself. My personal favourite is Ava-cado, named after her green-eyed cat!

Honest Hour, in its essence, is such a soulful play on your senses. Now that I’ve subconsciously mentioned the look, smell and taste of things, let’s talk about what you hear.

The soft, classic melodies of familiar yet underplayed songs loom in the background and mesh seamlessly with the friendly banter and genuine conversations and occasional soft giggles with the staff make you feel like part of a close-knit community, where your well-being is at the forefront of their mission.

This may make it sound like it can get pretty noisy when there’s a crowd in there so I’m just going to throw in a quick pic of our ambassador, Danial, having a peaceful nap while us girls were gabbing on just a couple feet away from him to prove that it doesn’t heist away a single ounce of relaxation:

Oh, and before I forget – The space is totally work-friendly with conveniently placed sockets for easy charging. In fact, with every word I type, I lowkey wish I was seated on the L-shaped sofa, getting a pedicure. And did I mention how good the tea is?

Jokes aside, the Honest Hour experience is also one of exquisite craftsmanship, long-lasting results. Thanks to the skilled technicians and high-quality products they use, with proper care, these mani-pedis stay intact and maintain their dazzle, whether you’re aiming for a clean-girl Hailey Bieber-esque look, a timeless French manicure, a burst of vibrant colour, or a quick buff and shine.

I may have even overheard a couple of our ambassadors planning a follow-up trip to the parlour… psst, also a really cute date idea!

While we’re on the topic of stimulating the senses, let me also mention that Eka believes in creating a space that fosters community and holistic well-being.

In addition to their nail services, Honest Hour has become a hub for various activities that promote self-discovery and connection.
